Founder & CEOKEN SENJU
Born and raised in Japan, Ken came to the United States at the age of 20 with a dream of becoming a sushi chef and one day building a business of his own. After spending his early years on the East Coast, he eventually made his way to California, where he found his true home in Los Angeles.
At the age of 28, he joined the team at Matsuhisa Beverly Hills, embarking on what would become a remarkable 22-year journey. Having entered with little formal experience, he grew alongside the restaurant itself, learning the craft, embracing its philosophy, and earning the trust and respect of those around him. Over the years, he rose to become a team leader and lead seafood purchaser, helping uphold the standards of one of the world’s most celebrated Japanese restaurants.
Throughout his career, he has had the privilege of serving world leaders, dignitaries, renowned figures, and some of the most discerning guests in the world. Yet what truly defines him is not the people he has served, but the relationships he has built. Known for his integrity, humility, and unwavering commitment to excellence, he has earned the admiration of colleagues, suppliers, and chefs alike. His calm demeanor, genuine warmth, and natural ability to connect with people have made him someone others instinctively trust, respect, and turn to for guidance.
Today, he brings that same passion and chef’s perspective to OSS Imports. Guided by the values of hospitality, trust, and craftsmanship, he continues to approach every relationship with the belief that this business is about far more than selling fish—it is about helping fellow chefs create extraordinary experiences and sharing a lifelong passion for exceptional food.
